چکیده

Background Autosomal dominant polycystic kidney disease (ADPKD) is the most common familial renal disorder. Left ventricular non-compaction cardiomyopathy (LVNC) is a rare cardiac condition resulting primarily from interruption of the normal embryonic process of myocardial compaction. Genes responsible for ADPKD have been linked to disorganized myocardial arrangement in animal models. In addition, there are multiple published case reports of ADPKD and LVNC occurring in the same patient. Therefore, we sought to examine possible association of ADPKD with LVNC in a large cohort of patients using cardiac magnetic resonance (CMR) imaging.

The Correlation between Left and Right Ventricular Ejection Fractions in Patients with Ischemic Heart Disease, Documented by Cardiac Magnetic Resonance Imaging

Introduction: The correlation between right and left ventricular ejection fractions (RVEF and LVEF, respectively) has been studied in only a small number of patients with a marked decrease in RVEF and LVEF. The aim of the present study was to compare LVEF and RVEF in patients with ischemic heart disease. RVEF and LVEF were measured by Cardiovascular Magnetic Resonance (CMR) imaging. Materials a...

Assessment of Organ Specific Iron Overload in Transfusion-dependent Thalassemia by Magnetic Resonance Imaging Techniques

The consequence of repeated blood transfusions in thalassemia is iron overload in different organs. Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) is a reliable, non-invasive and accurate method for iron detection in various tissues, hence the introduction of MRI has revolutionized the management of these patients and improved the life expectancy of them. Cardiac MRI T2* has a profound effect not only on est...

Purpose: To assess the relationship between the severity of coronary arteries involvement and the extent and pattern of myocardial scars in Cardiac Magnetic Resonance of patients with history of remote myocardial infarction. Materials and Methods: The Cardiac Magnetic Resonance images of sixty patients with history of remote ST segment or non-ST segment elevation myocardial infarction were ...

Cardiac MRI in a Patient with Coincident Left Ventricular Non-Compaction and Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy

Left ventricular non-compaction cardiomyopathy is a rare congenital cardiomyopathy that affects both children and adults. Since the clinical manifestations are not sufficient to establish diagnosis, echocardiography is the diagnostic tool that makes it possible to document ventricular non-compaction and establish prognostic factors. We report a 47-year-old woman with a history of dilated cardio...

Left ventricular noncompaction as diagnosed by established cardiac magnetic resonance imaging criteria is not associated with increased adverse events compared to non-ischemic dilated cardiomyopathy

Background Left ventricular noncompaction (LVNC) is classified by the American Heart Association as a primary genetic cardiomyopathy and is attributed to defects in cardiac embryogenesis resulting in the intrauterine arrest of the compaction of the loose meshwork that makes up the fetal myocardium. From echocardiographic data, the prevalence of LVNC has been estimated at 0.05% of the general po...
